Evergen provides a platform where solar and battery energy resources can be optimised through power trading and distribution, peak demand avoidance, demand response, and grid stabilisation management services. Our systems can support trading functions for risk profile management, asset dispatching and financial transactions as a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) operator.

Q & A

What does Evergen Intelligent Control (IC) do?

Evergen are leading the charge as energy disruptors through cutting-edge software.
Evergen Intelligent Control software provides two benefits to homeowners:

  1. Battery optimisation behind-the-meter to increase self-consumption; and
  2. Gives customers the choice to later participate in a Virtual Power Plant (VPP)
participation to earn cash from their battery (customers have to opt into VPPs
    themselves)
Who designed Evergen Intelligent Control?

Evergen was founded in collaboration between AMP Capital and the CSIRO in 2015, and since then, Evergen has invested in some of the smartest, curious and most capable minds across the industry to deliver value for our customers to transition to a resilient, renewable, decentralised energy system of the future.

What are the benefits of connecting my battery to Intelligent Control?

There are five key benefits to connecting your solar and battery system to Evergen Intelligent Control:

  1. At Evergen, one of our goals is to achieve net zero electricity costs for
homeowners who invest in solar and battery technology.
  2. Customers save on average, an additional 26.4%* off their electricity bills
through Intelligent Control battery optimisation software, which determines
when your stored power will deliver the greatest savings to your energy
    bill.
  3. Homeowners have visibility of their energy optimisation between solar,
battery and the grid through the Evergen app. Evergen uses live,
up-to-the-minute data from your system and displays the information
through their simple, easy-to-use mobile app.
  4. Their optimisation software also works behind the scenes to extend the life
of your battery through condition monitoring (such as temperature,
discharge rates, and charging times) to ensure your battery is being properly
maintained, so you can have peace of mind over your investment.
  5. A home with Evergen Intelligent Control also has the option to join an
eligible Virtual Power Plant. [Watch our VPP explainer video here]. If you
choose to register for a VPP in the future your battery supports other
homes with clean energy during times of high demand, and you’re
    incentivised for participation.
Can any battery connect to Evergen Intelligent Control?

With Evergen being hardware agnostic, they are constantly working with new hardware manufacturers to become compatible with more products. Currently they are compatible/integrate with:

  • Tesla Powerwall 2
  • Alpha ESS
  • LG Energy Solution with SolarEdge
  • Eveready
  • Energizer
  • HIVE
  • LAVO (hydrogen batteries released in 2021)
See list of recommended solar and battery packages that integrate with Evergen
    here.
What does Evergen Intelligent Control cost?

There is no cost at all. It’s free for the life of a customer’s system. This means the customer receives battery optimisation and access to the Evergen Intelligent Control app and web portal for the lifetime of their battery system.

Why is it free?

Evergen believes that electricity should be free for homes that invest in renewable energy technology, such as solar and batteries – having Intelligent Control connected to your battery helps to achieve this.

How does Evergen make money then?

The way we consume and share energy is changing. Evergen’s software is used by network operators and energy retailers to provide them with access to fleets of batteries. Utilities pay them for use of the software and their algorithms which are designed to maximise value for the energy stored in batteries, and in the energy system as a whole. Evergen ensures that consumers make the most of their investments in renewables and they earn money for making stored energy valuable Commercial in confidence and available in the system when the system needs it most

What benefits can I expect from Intelligent Control straight away?

When Intelligent Control begins managing your battery, it spends the first week gathering data on your pattern of consuming electricity. Once it has learned about how you use electricity and at what times of day, it will combine this information with weather forecasts, solar predictions, and knowledge of your solar-battery system to optimise your battery and minimise costs.

How do I sign up for Evergen Intelligent Control?

When you purchase a solar and battery system from us, it is included in your package (assuming it is a battery that integrates with Intelligent Control). Once your hardware is installed, we will let Evergen know that you are ready and have Intelligent Control installed for your system. You will receive an SMS to register your Evergen account once your details have been provided by us to Evergen.
